As part of its commitment of caring for its members, the Diffun Saranay and Development Cooperative (DISADECO) has started distributing food packs to its more than 18,000 members.
This second food pack rollout which is popularly known as “ayuda” kicked off in the second week of March and will hopefully be over by end of May this year. Each pack contains five kilograms of rice, one pack of loaf bread and a 50-gram pack of ground coffee. The three food items are all in-house products of the cooperative.
Leading the distribution are the cooperative front-liners like the account officers and branch managers. They will be delivering the food packs right at the doorsteps of each member.
Ms. Ma. Retchelle D. Jose, chief executive officer of DISADECO said that the fund used for the food pack distribution is from the budget allocation for incentives of members who will be attending the general assembly meeting. She explained that the Board of Directors thought of this action since the holding of a general assembly meeting is not allowed during this COVID-19 pandemic.
For her part, Ms. Marcy D. Foryasen, chairperson of the Board of Directors, thanked all the members of DISADECO for their cooperation. “It is the loyalty of the general membership, the trust and confidence that they put in DISADECO that allows the organization to also give back to its members what is due them especially in these trying times,” she emphasized.
As of this writing, about 75 percent of the members were served.
