The provincial government of Quirino lauds Diffun Saranay and Development Cooperative (DISADECO) for its significant contribution to the empowerment of coffee growers and promotion of sustainable development of coffee industry in the province through the operations of its coffee processing center.
DISADECO is among the chosen Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSMEs) to be featured in a coffee table book that will be launched in September 2021 in celebration of the 50th Founding Anniversary of Quirino Province. The Provincial Tourism Office said that the book, which will be authored by the multi-awarded journalist, Ms. Tina Arceo-Dumlao, aims to promote the history, culture and tradition, people, tourist destinations and agri-industrial pride of Quirino, among others. The DISADECO Coffee Processing Center will be highlighted under the coffee industry category.
When interviewed by Ms. Dumlao during her visit to the cooperative’s head office last July 13, DISADECO Diffun Branch Manager Ms. Vanessa V. Trabucon said that inclusive managerial and leadership capabilities of officers and management staff made the cooperative successful in carrying out its mission to promote social justice in the community. “More than the good standing of the Cooperative in general, every member’s welfare is what we prioritize,” Ms. Trabucon added. The same mission drove the cooperative to encourage member-farmers to cultivate coffee and to assist member-growers to sell their coffee produce.
Coffee processing enabled DISADECO support its member-farmers in selling their product at a competitive price. The construction of the DISADECO Processing Center in February 2019 contributed to the booming coffee industry in the province as coffee production from seeds to grounds has been made easy and readily accessible.
